I got picked for jury duty. The trial starts on Wednesday morning. I spent a mind-numbing, and behind-numbing day at the courthouse going through the selection process. Pretty interesting to see how it works - but the wheels of justice sure are slow and creaky!

You should have said you don't believe in government or the judicial process. And that you wonder why those little green men are running all over the courtroom.
Well, they don't give you any chance to say anything like that. You're supposed to call in ahead of time if you have one of the approved reasons for not serving, none of which I qualified for. I went today and we sat for an hour and a half, then we were dismissed since all the parties agreed to forgo the jury trial at the last minute. I have to call Fri night to see if they'll need me again next week. No one could say if next week is the last week or if we go on for a month. Crazy...
